Description

As healthcare professionals it is important to acknowledge that individuals with disabilities experience feelings of attraction, affection, and will seek touch and meaningful relationships just like everyone else. The role of healthcare professionals should be to help children with disabilities understand these feelings and apply them successfully within our societal context, while ensuring safety. This workshop with discuss the topics related to sexual health and sexual education, dispell myths related to sexuality and individuals with disabilities, review concerns related to privacy and potential for abuse, as well as provide concrete tools to help medical providers support and inform and educate their patients about these sensitive, yet crucial, health topics.

DINNER WILL BE PROVIDED
