Anne Doolen was a visionary and a pioneer for the North Carolina recovery movement. Today, we honor Anne's legacy through our work in carrying out ADCNC’s mission:

We help people overcome substance use and mental health disorders. We seek to eliminate stigma. We embrace all pathways to recovery and healing with dignity and respect for everyone. We Connect. We Educate. We Advocate.

Over the past 10 years, we have provided more than 80,000 North Carolina citizens with information & referrals to treatment for substance use disorders. Of that total, we have provided information and referrals to over 15,000 North Carolinians in the past 12 months! 4 people die every day in North Carolina from a prescription drug overdose. Every financial contribution that you make goes towards saving lives and helping someone find their pathway to recovery.

Our staff is working hard on the front lines every day, but we need your help to continue the fight.

Our Services

Through our call center, we utilize a specialized team of call responders (some with firsthand experience in recovery) that provide information and referrals to treatment and recovery support services for individuals who are seeking help for various substance use disorders. On any given month, our call responders serve between 500 – 1000 callers throughout the state of North Carolina.

To do this, we utilize our robust database that contains treatment providers and recovery support resources. In an effort to expand our reach and combat the recent opioid epidemic, we also provide information and educational support through our website via live chat and text features, as well.

Additionally, ADCNC provides perinatal support resources through a “Perinatal Substance Use Project” which includes screening, telephone hot-line, information, and appropriate referrals for women throughout our state who are pregnant or parenting and using substances. This also includes a weekly updated bed list under the “North Carolina Perinatal and Maternal Substance Abuse Initiative & CASAWORKS for Family Residential Services”.

In the past 12 months, our NC Army National Guard program (which provides targeted prevention and recovery support to soldiers at risk for a substance related disorder via access to referral, brief intervention and follow up) provided 80 assessments and 80 brief interventions to NC Army National Guard soldiers.
