  • An internationally recognized leader, speaker, educator, and advocate in his field.
  • Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University Health System.
  • Director of the Duke Keto Medical Clinic.
  • Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine.
  • Master’s Degree in clinical research, with over 90 peer-reviewed publications to his name.

JACQUELINE EBERSTEIN (RN)

  • Registered nurse with more than 40 years of experience both personally and clinically using a low carbohydrate approach.
  • Managed her own health to avoid type 2 diabetes and morbid obesity: both conditions that run in her family.
  • Worked closely with Dr. Robert Atkins for almost 30 years. At the time of Dr. Atkins’ death in 2003, she was the Director of Medical Education at The Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine.
  • Experience includes the education of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nutritionists on the principles and protocols of a Low Carb Lifestyle and Complementary Medicine.

ERIC THORN (MD, FACC)

  • Non-invasive cardiologist and obesity medicine specialist based in Arlington Virginia. Graduated from medical school from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2001
  • Trained in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 2001 - 2004.
  • Board certified in cardiology, internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, and obesity medicine.
  • Founder of the Center for Cardio-Metabolic Health and Weight Loss, an intensive, medically supervised program of nutritional rehabilitation at Virginia Hospital.
  • Believes that the implementation of an individualized, real food based, low carbohydrate lifestyle is the cornerstone of cardiovascular prevention and is passionate about helping his patients achieve optimal cardiovascular health.

AMY BERGER (MS, CNS, NTP)

  • Certified Nutrition Specialist and Nutritional Therapy Practitioner specializing in using low-carbohydrate nutrition to help people reclaim their vitality through eating delicious foods, and showing them that getting and staying well doesn't require starvation, deprivation, or living at the gym.

What should I bring to the event?

Can I bring my own lunch into the McKimmon Center?

Unfortunately no outside food is allowed to be brought in to the center, however you are welcome to bring a snack or lunch to eat outside during breaks.

How do I contact the organizer with any questions?

What is your refund policy?

Tickets are refundable up to 7 days prior to the event only.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

That would be helpful as it will show your lunch purchase. Your lunch ticket will be given to you at registration.

Will there be lunch available to purchase at the event?

No there will be no lunch available to purchase. Please pre-purchase your lunch with your admission ticket.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferable?

Yes. Just let us know when you get to registration.

Can I purchase a ticket at the door on event day?

Yes you may, cash preferred. And only if there are available tickets to purchase as we may have sold out. (We have a limited capacity due to the fire code).

Where do I park?

Parking is available in several lots around the campus. A campus parking map will be emailed to you prior to the event.
