The DC Office of Disability Rights (ODR) is pleased to announce the rollout of this year’s DC Government Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator Certification Program. Through this Program, agency ADA Coordinators who attend and complete at least three (3) of the course offerings listed below, and pass a written exam, will receive a certification from ODR.

In order to qualify for the certification, an ADA Coordinator must complete ODR trainings that cover both ADA Title I (Employment) and ADA Title II (Accessible Government). The ADA Coordinator must attend the training sessions selected in full and complete three courses total. The courses completed must include a Title I Session, a Title II Session and one Roundtable Discussion. ADA Coordinators who have completed one or two of the required courses within the past year only need to register for their remaining coursework. They may verify their course completion record by contacting ODR.

The certification exam will be offered twice annually; the administration dates are listed below. ADA Coordinators must choose one of the two dates listed. ADA Coordinators who need to request reasonable accommodation for either the course offerings or the exam should contact ODR at least 5 dates prior to the date they wish to attend.

ADA Coordinators who complete the Program and pass the exam will be invited to a recognition ceremony held during ODR’s annual Disability and Diversity Expo. Once certified, ADA Coordinators will have the opportunity to train alongside ODR staff to ensure knowledge of and compliance with the law in their respective agencies.

Below is a list of the upcoming course offerings for FY 2019. Each session will be held at DC Human Resources at 1015 Half Street SE on the 9th floor and will require a two to three hour time commitment for successful completion.
