Event description
Actor Avan Jogia presenting “Mixed Feelings: Poems and Stories”

About this Event

From actor Avan Jogia comes a raw and moving collection of poetry, stories, and art about living as a mixed-race person in a world increasingly fixated on racial identity.

“I started interviewing people of mixed race like myself, and talking to them about what it’s like [to live] in this increasingly racially polarized world, what does it mean to be mixed race and what perspective does that give you. I then wrote poems based on those interviews. Then it's also interjected with a bunch of poems that I wrote about my own family, my own family background, my own identity, my own struggles with my own mixed identity. It's been a really rewarding experience,” says Avan Jogia in Teen Vogue.

Avan Jogia is an artist whose work spans film, writing, and music. He was raised in Canada, the son of an Indian-British father and English-Irish mother. This is his first book.
