Description

The Agency is committed in strengthening staff capacity to prevent, avoid or stop threats, disasters or hazards.

We will continue offering mandatory Active Shooter training to all Agency staff. ALICE (Alert, Lock-down, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate) was developed after Columbine, teaches strategies to survive a life-threatening event. Supported by educators and law enforcement organizations, ALICE is quickly becoming the new standard of care across the nation.

The threat of an active shooter attack is rare but very real. As a result of this training, we hope to eradicate the “It can’t happen to me” mentality and change the way people respond to armed intruders. The ALICE Training Institute believes everyone deserve access to life-saving options and they want all Americans to have the knowledge and skills to survive when shots are fired.

With workplace violence becoming a rising trend across the United States, the ALICE method is not limited to preventing a school shooting, but rather a way to protect ourselves should this happen to us at work, at the mall, or any public place.
