Event description

Description

The day will be comprised of a 2-hour morning session devoted to active assailant response techniques followed by a 4-hour afternoon workshop dedicated to active assailant plan development.

Active assailant response technique is a two-hour class that is designed as a rapid-moving class that will have you out of your seats and practicing potentially lifesaving skills and techniques in response to an active assailant in your facility. To include but not limited to:

  • Identify the difference between “cover and concealment”, protection from projectiles

  • Patient protection considerations

  • Blockading to protect and protecting yourself with common office items

  • Bleeding control strategies

The facilitated 4-hour workshop will walk you through the planning process and key elements to consider while putting together your active assailant plan. Feel free to bring your existing plan in a format that you may edit as we move through the workshop, otherwise an electronic Active Assailant Plans Template will be sent to you prior to the workshop that you may prefer to use. Please bring a laptop with files loaded to enable you to make dynamic changes during the session. We encourage you to bring floorplans if available to help us guide you if you wish. Some of the key elements to be explored will be:

  • Key Individuals and plans

  • Threat Management and Active Assailant Teams

  • Lockdown Procedures

  • First responder coordination

  • Communications

  • Recovery and Continuity of Operations

  • Rally/Assembly locations
