Description

Come experience the power of two ancient sciences: Acupuncture and Kriya Yoga. This experiential event is both a learning opportunity and mini-retreat which combines Pranayama, Meditation, Kriya, Acupuncture and Tuning Forks.

This workshop is structured in such a manner to amply the benefits of both Acupuncture and Kriya Yoga for balance of the nervous system, cellular rejuvenation and optimal health and healing. No prior experience with acupuncture or yoga is necessary.

Jamie Alden, a Certified Sattva Yoga teacher, will open the session with pranayama (breathwork), meditation, kriya and gentle asana to prepare the energetic pathways of the body to fully receive the acupuncture.

Nanci Poage and Karli Azevedo, both Licensed Acupuncturist/East Asian Medicine Practitioners (EAMP), will offer acupuncture to each participant.

The acupuncture will be delivered while you are stretched out comfortably on your yoga mat, resting for 20-30 minutes to allow the treatment to have effect. During the NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) protocol, Nanci and Karli will gently place five small, sterilized disposable needles into specific sites on one ear. They will include the acupuncture point Yintang (between the eyebrows), often referred to as the “third eye".

While students are resting, Nanci and Karli will apply Ohm tuning forks (vibrational healing sound therapy) on specific acupuncture points on the feet which helps one to be grounded and relaxed physically, mentally, and emotionally, while resetting the autonomic nervous system.

Jamie will close the workshop with a period of meditation to further saturate and nourish the nervous system followed by a short movement sequence for "waking up" and grounding will be led before students depart back into the world.

There are some bolsters and blankets at the studio, but we recommend you bring additional support to maximize your comfort in a seated and reclined position on the floor. You might want to wear layers as you will be warm during the yoga portion and may cool off during the meditation portions and acupuncture.
