ACTING + IMPROV with Alissa Jessup

This 4-week class will merge basic acting techniques with long-form improv to bolster your scene work by dropping into grounded characters easefully and in the moment.

During this 4-week class, we will explore the intersection of these two art forms in order to deepen our skills as comedic performers.

Acting + Improv is open to actors and comedic performers

Date: Sundays 9/17- 10/8 12 - 3 pm
Number of class sessions: 4
Length of each class: 3 hours
Price: $175 Early Bird before 9/9 $225 Regular
Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of long-form improv

WEEK 2 - Physicality - Let your body lead the way

WEEK 3 - Stagecraft - Creating the picture

WEEK 4 -Scene work- Putting it all together

Alissa Jessup is a writer, director, and actor with over 20 years’ experience creating and working in TV, film and theater. In 2015, Alissa founded Growly Pictures to produce content that is made by women for women.

Alissa wrote, directed, and stars in the comedic short film, ‘chickadee’, which she produced with an all-female cast and crew. As an actor, she has performed and developed new plays with Sundance Theatre Lab, The Flea Theater, ACT Theatre, 13P, Soho Rep, P.S. 122, and Playwrights Horizons. Selected T.V. credits include The Mindy Project (Hulu), True Blood (HBO), Grimm (NBC), and The Mentalist (CBS).

Alissa has written and performed comedy at The Groundlings, Upright Citizen’s Brigade NYC and UCBLA.
