To give high school students a basic knowledge of the acting process, covering preparation and action for the actor, contributing to characterization. Students will study and practice fundamental acting techniques in the physical, conceptual, and spiritual levels laid forth in Robert Benedetti’s book The Actor at Work over an eight week course, be assigned a scene partner, and perform a scene from a twentieth-century, American playwright (Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, Beth Henley). Rehearsal in and outside of class time will be expected and encouraged. Students will perform their scene at Week Five of the class for instructor and peer critique, then again at Week Eight for final review. The first 45 minutes of class will consist of instructor-led lecture and exercises, followed by 45 minutes of assigned scene work.

Rebekah Robeson has been involved in community and educational theatre for over 12 years and is most recently starred as Belle in ACP's 'Beauty and the Beast'. She has played multiple roles in productions, both as a cast and crew member. She began teaching theatre skills to elementary and middle school students while she was in high school, as part of Greenbrier High School's summer drama camp program. After solely teaching for three years, she took on the role of Assistant Director of the Greenbrier summer camp program, which she did for four more camps at GHS. During and after college, she served as assistant camp director for the Augusta Players summer drama camp for two consecutive camps, and just finished serving as director for the Edgefield County Theatre Company's summer drama camp in 2016. She has been a member of several drama guild programs, and improv troupes during college and since. She has directed and stage managed for several musical and non-musical productions in both community and educational settings. Some favorite roles she has played over the years include Amneris in Elton John's Aida, The Baker's Wife in Into the Woods, Elmire in Tartuffe, Penny Sycamore in You Can't Take it With You, Janet in The Rocky Horror Show, and her current role with ACP, Belle in Beauty and the Beast. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Augusta University and serves as a board member for Edgefield County Theatre Company where she is heading up their children's theatre program.
