Why does acting in movies and TV look so easy? Because it is!
The secret to great “acting” when the camera is rolling is to not “act” at all, but rather to “be” yourself! Most film and TV actors are simply being themselves when on screen. Beyond that, the difference between acting in front of an audience and acting in front of a camera is about understanding that ‘less is more’ on film. Actors do that by connecting to and listening to their scene partner, surrendering to their environment, realizing that movie acting is almost always a private conversation between scene partners, and by letting the other elements in film do their job!
Acting for the Camera is a unique film acting class that helps actors discover how to truly be themselves when the camera rolls. It’s for actors who are ready to abandon techniqueand method and willing to trust that being and not acting is the surest way to have a great moment in front of the camera. It’s about connecting to your scene partner, surrendering to your environment, allowing the words to speak for themselves, and trusting that the actor doesn’t have to do most of the work in film (the other cinematic elements like lighting, composition, editing and music do most of the heavy lifting). All of this to accomplish one simple goal: Be “you” when the camera rolls because “you” are more interesting and amazing than any character you can create.
