About this event
Act To Change is rallying the nation -- including cities, elected officials, influencers, and community organizations -- around the 4th Annual National AAPI Day Against Bullying + Hate.
This year marks 40 years since Vincent Chin was murdered in a brutal hate crime. May 18, 2022 would have been his 67th birthday. 40 years later, anti-AAPI sentiment still persists in our society, and it takes a massive toll on the mental health of our youth.
This year our program, titled UNITED WE HEAL, consists of two portions:
- A virtual livestreamed program to highlight the importance of mental health and wellness in breaking barriers for the AAPI community. This program will feature a number of guests ranging from celebrities and leaders in entertainment, activism, health and wellness, and more. Registration for this can be found separately linked here.
- An in-person community reception at the historic Japanese American National Museum in the Little Tokyo neighborhood of Los Angeles*. We're excited to convene AAPI youth, activists and leaders for a night of solidarity, community, networking and awards. Please see below for tickets!
This Community Reception will be an opportunity to meet and connect with others in celebration of not only our work as an anti-bullying organization for AAPI youth, but also the work of AAPI leaders and changemakers across the country. We're excited to be presenting a number of awards to friends and partner organizations that have been instrumental in promoting justice, healing, and inclusion for our AAPI communities.
Appetizers and two drink tickets will be provided to all attendees of our Community Reception. Attendees will also receive FREE admission to the Common Ground exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM). We're grateful to JANM for their generosity as a host and venue sponsor for our event.
EVENT PROGRAM:
6 pm| Doors Open: Refreshments + Open Access to Common Ground Exhibit
7 pm | Program & Presentation of Awards (45m)
9pm | Event Ends

*It is important to acknowledge that both the neighborhood we refer to as Little Tokyo as well as the broader city of Los Angeles sits on land that has historically belonged to the indigenous Gabrielino/Tongva people, whose community continues to live on and steward these lands today.
