Event description

Description

You are cordially invited to the official launch of the Academic Centre for International Students, part of the Faculty of Humanities.

The event will open with short introductory talks by the Vice-President International,
Professor Colin Grant, the Dean of Humanities, Professor Anne Curry, and invited speakers.

There will be a series of stands with demonstrations and samples of ACIS activities, with our dedicated team of teaching fellows available to discuss the wide variety of programmes and support ACIS can provide for our International community. Our four key programmes are the
summer pre-sessional, English for Academic Studies (EAS), the International Foundation Year (IFY) and the pre-Masters programme, providing pathways for over a thousand international students to join the University’s undergraduate and masters programmes each year.

We aim to support both international students and staff with courses, resources and individual tutorials in areas ranging from English for Academic Purposes (support for reading/writing, listening/speaking), academic skills for international students, intercultural communications and awareness training, and digital resources for independent language learning. We particularly look forward to discussing with receiving Faculties as to how we can develop and expand our support for your international students.

Professor Clare Mar-Molinero, Head of Department and Associate Dean for Internationalisation in Humanities, will close the event at 16:45 followed by a wine reception thereafter.

This event is open to all staff; please RSVP via the Book now button below by 24 May.
