In the 80’s pop music changed forever after Michael Jackson’s album Thriller was released on November 30, 1982. This original album with about 65 million copies sold all over the world and it achieved 33 Platinum certifications in the US. Featuring seven top 10 hits including “Billie Jean,” “Beat It” and “Thriller,” helped Michael win a record-setting eight Grammy Awards in one night.
We will not only celebrate Thriller’s 40th Anniversary but how the album set and broke records, challenged racial boundaries and revolutionized the music industry. Influenced many other contemporary artists who tried to emulate Thriller’s sound and came to define 80s music with its eclectic blending of genres. Its impact extends beyond the 1980s.
