ACHCA Ohio Chapter Marblehead Event History

Rich Fratianne was a past National President of the College and a leader in the Ohio Chapter for many years. This event was created in his memory where our Ohio Chapter members would have fun and enjoy the fellowship of being together in a recreational setting such as Lake Erie. Rich strongly felt and stated on numerous occasions that he believed the Ohio Chapter members got as much out of our meetings with good fellowship as we received in the classroom for the CEU required by our State Licensure Board. His idea was that the Ohio Chapter should be the “Melting Pot of ideas and discussions between our members coming from not only the for-profit and non-profit nursing centers, but also from the facility members, presenters, and students combined together in a “Melting Pot like atmosphere of camaraderie. He loved to see all these disciplines coming together to discuss issues, to talk and to laugh and fun and enjoy being with each other in a “Melting Pot”. When Rich suddenly passed away, we developed this event to remember him in this setting once per year with Secure Care as our sponsor.

ACHCA CEU Course Description and Speakers

8:00AM- 10:00AM:

Program Title 1 : Sustaining a Five Star Census Without a Five Star Rating

With the changes within the quality rating system and new regulations, only a small percentage of skilled nursing facilities will achieve a five star quality rating. The fact remains that this rating can be impacted by a variety of factors at any given time. This program is geared to skilled nursing facility leaders that are seeking to position their organizations for consistent and sustainable census success regardless of their current star rating. A low-cost, high-impact approach will be utilized to outline strategies to achieve and sustain a high occupancy and payor mix. Case studies will also be shared and time allocated for questions/answers.

Saunders A licensed nursing home administrator for over thirty years, Linda has specialized in opening new campuses and turning around underperforming organizations by developing outstanding teams and spearheading aggressive marketing programs. 10:00AM -3:00PM:

Program Title 2: Patient Driven Payment Model for Administrators

The Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) is set to dramatically change the landscape of Medicare reimbursement, but also the roles of the MDS nurse, interdisciplinary team, and the therapy department. This session will not only describe the elements of PDPM, but will take a deeper dive to map out what the change could look like for the operational roles of your community. We will discuss the critical role Administrators will play in ensuring successful implementation of the process in their communities and identify practical ways to prepare for the changes now.
