Event description

Description

WTCI, the Chattanooga 2.0 Early Matters Coalition (ACEs Public Training Workgroup) and United Way of Greater Chattanooga (UWGC) will host a 2-day screening workshop event sponsored by UNUM on January 25 and January 26 that will engage, educate and inspire educators, service providers and caregivers through documentary screenings of “Building Strong Brains: ACEs, The Tennessee Story.”

Hosted at WTCI, this 2-day opportunity will engage up to 140 guests in screenings and guided breakout sessions that will further educate the public on the impact of ACEs on families and the community. Participants will engage in discussions about the content of the screenings and their work in the community in order to help Chattanooga grow as a trauma-informed community. Space is limited, thank you for registering for this event. .

“Building Strong Brains: ACEs, The Tennessee Story” was produced by WCTE in collaboration with agencies, organizations, and other communities across the State, and funded by a grant from the State of Tennessee as a part of an initiative by Governor Haslam that deals with changing the conversation about early childhood trauma, its impact on the brain-building process and what communities can do to assure success for every child born in Tennessee. Lesley Scearce, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Chattanooga, says “We are proud allies in the local conversation around ACEs, it’s crucial to connect different sectors of the community around the important question of how we can protect and support Chattanooga’s children through trauma intervention.”

This community event is made possible through the support of UNUM, one of the world’s leading employee benefits companies. Snacks for the event are being provided courtesy the Helen Ross McNabb Center. Early Matters Chattanooga is an action team of the Chattanooga 2.0 coalition and is made up of over 30 local organizations working together to ensure access to high-quality resources that support optimal development of children ages birth through five in Hamilton County, Tennessee. They strive to engage and mobilize the community through advocacy, communication and education and this screening and workshop will continue their work to educate the public on the impact of ACEs and toxic stress in the hopes that Chattanooga will become a more trauma-informed community.
