Event description

Description

We talk about how childhood adversity is strongly linked to adverse health outcomes later in life. Science and research continue to push the boundaries of our knowledge, further explaining the 'how' that links adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and adverse health outcomes. Such knowledge is wonderful, but now what? What are we supposed to do with this knowledge? What can we do as communities? As families? What is our government doing with this information? These are some of the questions we would like to start answering.

The NEAR Collaborative for Action invites you to our January ACEs Quarterly Event which is swiftly approaching. Based on feedback from the October ACEs Quarterly screening of Resilience: the Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope, our focus for this January event is on raising awareness about efforts underway in Snohomish County for utilizing NEAR science concepts in community outreach projects.

We are proud to welcome several collaborative groups that recently received funding from United Way of Snohomish County to speak about how knowledge of ACEs, trauma-informed practice, or resilience influenced the purpose of each collaborative effort. We are excited to host representatives from Homeward House, Improving School Attendance, and Making Life Work. To learn more about each collaborative, you can visit the United Way of Snohomish County website under the Core Collaborative Grants page.
