About this event

Hear from college and graduate students who are members of BosNOMA about their college journey so far and gain insight into your future pathway. Be ready for a fun and engaging conversation about what you can do next!

Session #2: Real Time with Design Students will focus on the experience of design students in higher education. Learn more about the different academic paths a design student might follow! NOMA Student Panelists will give brief presentations sharing their experience in design school followed by a Q&A session where students can ask questions and engage in discussion.

What is NOMA? National Organization of Minority Architects Mission:BosNOMA holds a critical responsibility in Boston’s larger building and design community in helping to foster the advancement of equitable practice and minority leadership. Our primary focus is on architects, designers and those that share a vital role in the growth of professionalism, engagement with the community and development of the built environment. Our mission is three-fold: Achieve diversity and socioeconomic awareness, establish strategic partnerships and most importantly, invest in the next generation.

Speakers

Andres Jimenez, Wentworth Institute of Technology

Andres Jimenez is a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology. As a designer and an activist interested in urban planning and equitable design, he looks to support marginalized communities through his professional work. Interning at Studio ENEE, a minority, and women-led architecture firm, Andres helps design equitable and sustainable architecture. Before joining STUDIO ENÉE, Andres was an intern designer at Harvard Business School, where he worked on several space planning projects with the Operations Department. At Wentworth Institute of Technology, Andres is the Co-President of the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (WITNOMAS). Here, he collaborates on speaker forums, professional development events, and meaningful conversations on social justice and architecture to bring equity and access to the student body. In his spare time, Andres likes playing video games and spending time with friends

Greggy Bazile, Cornell University

An ACE Mentor program alumni and an aspiring Architect & Designer. Greggy is a first-year student in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning at Cornell University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree

Nathalia Bossolan, BAC (Boston Architectural College)

Her passion for technology and thoughtful design coalesce to create buildings that are environmentally conscious, and she devotes high attention to the positive involvement of architecture during the occupants’ experiences as individuals and groups.

Moderator

Elyse Ayoung, NOMA, MiD – Associate, Gensler

Elyse Ayoung is a Creative and Interior Designer/Architect based in Boston. Dorchester native and first generation American to Trinidadian parents, she graduated with a BFA in Architecture from Massachusetts College of Art + Design. Her career has included projects of varying scales at small, medium and large firms – landing her in her most current role as an Associate Designer at Gensler focusing on workplace design. She is passionate not only about the spaces she creates, but the impact her lived experiences and cultured background can and should have on design and the built environment. As an executive member of BosNOMA and co-founder of the MiD Collective, Elyse is focused on the success of the next generation and working to build opportunities and exposure to Design and Architecture for our youth and our communities. She believes that through design we can tell stories that move you; each project should be approached as a story untold.
