Description

On May 30th, 2019, The Metro Health & Medical Preparedness Coalition is hosting a four hour seminar on planning for individuals with access and functional needs. This day will include speakers on specific topics and agencies sharing resrouces.

Speakers:

  • Rodney Garrott, Regional Disability Integration Advisor FEMA Region 5

  • Lilllian McDonald, Managing Director, Emergency Resposne Services - TPT - Twin Cities PBS

  • Peter Berg– Technical Assistance Coordinator, Great Lakes ADA

  • Emily Moilanen – Healthcare Preparedness Planner Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response, Minnesota Department of Health (emPOWER program)

Goals of the Seminar are:

  • Increase knowledge and understanding about the resources that are available in the Twin Cities metro area to serve individuals with access and functional needs. (Community Preparedness and Community Recovery)

  • Review best practices for at-risk populations planning, especially how to communicate with at risk populations utilizing new tools like TPT ECHO (Public Information and Warning)

  • Allow representatives from over 85 local agencies the opportunity to ask questions so that each facility and jurisdiction does not need to contact agencies that work with populations that serve individuals with access and functional needs (Information Sharing)

  • Obtain resources for emergency planning to serve populations with access and functional needs (Emergency Operations Coordination)
