Building a Robust Business Ecosystem around UNIDO’s Least Developed Countries

Date: 19- 25 November 2017 | Venue: Vienna International Center , Austria

Pre-event to the 7th UNIDO LDC Ministerial Conference organised in collaboration with ADYFE, Aphropean Partners and SensX Africa:

Building Global Partnerships: Enhancing Growth and inclusiveness in LDCs

  • United Nations Industrial Development Organization
  • ADYFE African Diaspora Youth Forum in Europe and Association of African Students in Austria - VAS Österreich
  • SensXAfrica
  • Aphropean Partner

UNIDO has the global mandate to promote and accelerate Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID) in developing countries and economies in transition contributing to the objectives of poverty alleviation, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. Most relevant to this proposed project, the organization is recognized as a highly relevant, specialized and efficient provider of critical services to address the challenges of reducing poverty through productive activities and SMEs development, with particular regard to youth and women, and is equipped with the competencies and toolkit for skills development for entrepreneurship.

ADYFE is the largest Diaspora Entrepreneurship Forum in Europe towards Africa. The Forum puts great effort into mobilizing youngsters within the African Diaspora and (aspiring) Entrepreneurs to support each other. The ultimate aim is to increase the access to qualitatively good jobs, promote entrepreneurial incentives and achieve an inclusive, sustainable industrial development for everyone. The Forum stands for the empowerment of the African Youth Diaspora, as well as the support of a sustainable economic development in Africa.

ADYFE’s mission is to provide a space for consultations and discussions between youth and decision-makers in order to foster industrialization, encourage entrepreneurship, as well decrease the Youth unemployment rate.

SensXAfrica is an international entrepreneur development forum which provides education, network and investment opportunities for African entrepreneurs and finance professionals. Thereby we create, grow and foster Africa’s business of tomorrow. Africa’s disruptive entrepreneurs are emerging as a global economic force. To continue their rise and expand their business beyond Africa, they will need to build extensive global networks, unlock investment by tapping into global capital markets and world-class centers of innovative excellence. Our events are the first step in a journey of growth and capacity building, helping them navigate the world of international financing options, building trust and partnerships with our platform of global investors and centers of business excellence.

Aphropean Partners is an independent initiative for the delivery of public engagement focusing on sustainable business, technology, and culture. As the name conveys, Aphropean Partners sets out to inspire and enable people for better understanding, improved decision-making, and collaboration between Africa, its Diaspora, and Europe. Driven by a passionate belief that only through diversity and mutual partnership can we win the race to profitable, sustainable development and growth, Aphropean Partners unite the approach of a creative agency with knowledge brokerage through Aphropean Views (strategic outreach program), Frontiers of Dialogue (engagement event series), and business linkage promotion.

Our means is to facilitate the exchange of data, information, and insights for a nurtured understanding and collaboration between African and European enterprises.

Creating a youth advisory body to the ministerial meeting
is at the forefront of our agenda.

The Meeting aims to create a space for youth entrepreneurs, CEOs, and ecosystem enablers to contribute to the social and economic development in their respective countries by improving their capacities to better engage with their countries through the LDC's Ministerial Conference. We achieve this by activating and reinforcing youth entrepreneur networks, enhancing capacities of youth entrepreneurs, supporting efforts in enterprise creation and development by facilitating global partnerships, improving access to finance and the ecosystem for youth entrepreneurship in the developing countries and its Diaspora. Thus, we create a set of mechanism mobilizing and empowering the private sectors, including Ecosystem enablers.
