Stop Asian Hate - talking with FBI Special Agent
About this event
The following are the temporary collected questions: (They are subject to change.)
1. What are the job functions of FBI? What is the day’s work of an agent like? How does one become an agent?
2. What constitutes “hate crime”? Is racially charged verbal assault considered hate crime?
3. What is the proper channel for reporting hate crimes? Can you give some examples of hate-related incidents that FBI will take on? How do people directly seek FBI help?
4. There are many organizations in the Asian communities. What are the effective ways for us to help FBI tackle hate crimes against Asians?
5. In recent years, there have been many incidents where Asian scientists/engineers are accused of espionage on behalf of foreign governments. How does FBI define “technological espionage”, “industrial espionage”, and “economic espionage”? How do Asian people and organizations tread the line between international collaboration and the suspicion of “espionage”?
6. If we are subject to the accusation of “espionage”, what are our rights as US citizens? Does the government appoint legal counsel to help defend the accused?
