Description
This tour will explore some of the Mission District’s oldest and most intact Victorian streetscapes, including blocks developed during the 1860s. Learn about the Mission’s lost railroad lines, horse racetracks, former stables and hidden creeks. Tour participants will also see some of the Mission’s most interesting back alleys, as well as a surviving remnant of “Mansion Row.” The tour will be led by Jonathan Lammers, an architectural historian who served as field survey coordinator for the South Mission Historic Resource Survey.
All participants are strongly encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen.
