Severe vision loss is a life changing event. It’s an anxious and stressful journey. Routine daily activities like reading the mail, grocery shopping, cooking, or writing can now be challenging and overwhelming.
While severe vision loss is a change we wished no one had to face, it is a reality for an increasing number of people in our community. However, no one has to face it alone. The Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired (ABVI) works with clients through their transition and helps them learn how to thrive in a sighted world. ABVI assists its clients so they can live independently, confidently, and with dignity.
For ABVI and our clients this, our 103rd year, has been a time of growth and opportunity. New partnerships and friendships have opened more doors for ABVI and the clients we serve. But we need to do more.
Many in our community still don’t know about our services and life changing assistance. They need to know how we can help them, their friends, and their families face the challenges of vision loss. To help spread the word, we are hosting an exciting evening at the new Atwater Brewery in Grand Rapids. This casual, interactive evening will allow Grand Rapids to learn more about ABVI while enjoying the fantastic craft beer experience offered by Atwater Brewery.
Please join us on October 20 and support this very important cause which impacts so many of our community. By being a part of ABVI’s work, you are giving the gift of independence to a parent, child, or friend.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Yes. You must be 21 to attend. Craft beer will be served.
Will there be a physical ticket to enter the event?
No. When you register online, your information will be provided to ABVI. You will check in upon arrival at the event, but no physical ticket will be needed.
What if I want someone to attend in my place?
If you know of the change in advance, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of the person currently registered, as well as the person taking their place. If the change needs to happen last minute, the new attendee will need to be able to provide the name of the person currently registered in order to take their spot to the event.
Will tickets be available on site?
Tickets will be available until the event has reached maximum capacity. If space is still available, tickets will be able to be purchased at the door via cash, check or credit card. To ensure your ability to attend the event, we strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance.
