Event description

Description

When it comes to nature—there’s more than meets the eye! Would you have guessed that these colorful images are from moth eggs, seaweed cells, maple leaves, mums, bumble bees, moth scales and more?

Using research quality microscopes, we'll learn how to photograph things in the realm of the ultra small. Adults are invited to join us for this fun, 2-hour, hands-on workshop that combines nature, science and photography!

Participants should bring a specimen (a pinch of sand, a piece of a plant or fruit, fabric, etc.) that they don't mind slicing into, and an SC card to take some photos home.

About the Instructor:

Jeffrey (Jeff) Holcombe received his B.A. in plant biology from Duke and continued on to get his Ph.D in plant development from the University of Michigan. Since then, he has taught science at the Loomis Chaffee School (1986-2013) and has produced numerous publications. Jeff’s work has also been a part of many juried shows and exhibitions. Today, Jeff is the owner of Agonist Gallery in Broad Brook, CT.
