Breath of Fire presents ABSOLVED by Yásaman Madadi and directed by Angela Estela Moore.

This is a FREE Staged Reading followed by a Q&A. Limited seating - reservations recommended.

SUMMARY: A lawyer working for the US Attorney's office must use the law to fight for her brother when she discovers he is implicated in high-profile terrorist attack.

THE WRITER: Yásaman Madadis a playwright, television writer, and journalist. Her work has been published in The Orange Coast Voice, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation Magazine, Her Saturn Returns: Queer Women of Color in Transition, among other publications, and her short play, "The Black Hair Diary," was a recent Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts selection. An Ensemble member of the Breath of Fire Latina Theater in Santa Ana, in the past year, Yásaman has developed and showcased the plays, "Mitra's Suitcase," which documents the struggles of a muslim woman as her things are searched by young law enforcement at LAX airport; "Cage of Angels," based on the life of a transgender woman who died in a San Pedro detention facility due to AIDS-related complications; and, "Whack-Awake," a ten minute play about a terrorizing alarm clock. She is recently graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing for Television, Film, and Theatre at California State University, Los Angeles. Born to Iranian parents, she lives in Northeast Los Angeles.
