Description

Join us to engage with local and national perspectives on Australia's first peoples and education.

This professional learning day will connect you with local education initiatives and current research, and provide you with primary and secondary teaching resources that address AITSL standards 1.4 and 2.4. The morning session will focus on science and the afternoon session will focus on social sciences.

KEYNOTE: Queensland Department of Education and Training Head of Department Joe Sambono will talk about Aboriginal Knowledges in Science.

Joe Sambono is an Aboriginal zoologist and educator with family connections throughout Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. His passion is all things Science, in particular Biology. Joe has a rare skillset comprising comprehensive awareness of education, Indigenous knowledges, Indigenous ways of working scientifically and western science. He is currently a Head of Department with The Queensland Department of Education and Training’s Solid Pathways Program.
