Please join us for a screening of Abacus: Small Enough to Jail, an Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary, about the prosecution of Abacus Federal Savings Bank, a Chinatown bank, by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. After the screening, Professor Jessica Roth, Co-Director of the Burns Center, will moderate a panel discussion that will include sisters Jill Sung, President and CEO of Abacus Bank, Vera Sung, member of the Board of Directors of Abacus Bank, and Chanterelle Sung, former lawyer with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, whose father founded Abacus Federal Savings Bank; Rusty Wing, one of their attorneys in the case; and Professor Bob Hockett of Cornell Law School. The panel also will address issues concerning the exercise of prosecutorial discretion, particularly in the context of prosecutions of corporate entities.
