Participants will be presented with basic, and then advanced principles of applied behavior analysis.

Description:

PLEASE NOTE: Registration for this event includes both evenings. Participants cannot register for one evening alone.

Participants will be presented with basic, and then advanced principles of applied behavior analysis. They will be shown techniques that can be used in treatment sessions to accommodate behavior.

Participants will also be shown how to gather and record data on student's progress. Successful participation in course will enable a participant to accept ABA cases through Therapeutic Resources.

This course is open to: Special Educators, CSWs, OTs, PTs, and COTAs

This seminar takes place over two days over zoom:

  • May 11th: 5-8PM
  • May 12th: 5-8PM

OVERVIEW

May 11th, 2021 - 5-8PM

Participants will be able to:

1. Define the characteristics of ABA

2. Identify the four principles of behavior

3. Describe reinforcement and how one would use it as a teaching strategy

4. Identify two behavior management strategies which do not work to reduce or eliminate restrictive patterns of activity, behavior or interests.

TIME ORDERED AGENDA

5:00-6:00PM: ABA Theory and Practice

6:00-7:00PM: Specific Rationale Regarding ABA Programs: How they are developed and what is entailed in executing programs for each child.

7:00-8:00PM: The Basics of Reinforcers. What motivates each child in order to change their behavior and managing that behavior.

May 12th, 2021 - 5-8PM

Participants will be able to:

1. Identify the benefits of collaboration between ABA Therapists and Occupational Therapists

2. Define the positive reinforcement principle to use in an ABA program

3. Develop a basic behavior plan for a sample child.

4. Incorporate a sample graph and data collection measurement component for the sample child.

TIME ORDERED AGENDA

5:00-6:00PM: Data Collection. How to graph and document all intervention carried out for each treatment session.

6:00-7:00PM: Behavior Management Techniques that can be Utilized During Treatment Sessions

7:00-8:00PM: Video Vignettes of ABA Treatment and Case Study Explanation

For New York Licensed Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants

Therapeutic Resources is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Physical Therapy as an approved provider of physical therapy and physical therapy assistant education. The entire course is offered for .6 CEUs.

Cancellation Policy: 75% of course fee will be refunded if Therapeutic Resources is notified up to 21 days before the event. In lieu of a monetary refund, Therapeutic Resources also offers a credit for the full amount paid up until 5 days before the event. No refunds or credits are offered after the day of the course. If the course is canceled by Therapeutic Resources due to low registration, illness or cancellation of instructor, technical issues, or inclement weather. Therapeutic Resources will refund the full amount paid for the course.
