Event Details

SPEAKER:

Rachel Sheedy

Editor of Kiplinger's Retirement Report

TITLE:

Maximize IRA Assets for You & Your Heirs

DESCRIPTION:

Traditional IRAs and 401(k)s are called "tax deferred", rather than "tax-free", accounts for good reason!  You don't pay taxes on the money you deposit into them or on the profits that accumulate over the years, but you and/or your heirs do pay taxes, often at your (or their) highest ordinary income tax bracket on the money being taken out years later.  Rachel Sheedy's years of researching and reporting will assist us, investors young and old, in understanding the facts and will offer some insightful strategies on how we might be able to minimize those taxes.

ATTEND THIS MEETING TO LEARN:

  • How a Roth account can benefit you and provide a tax-free legacy for your heirs.
  • There are key differences in IRA required minimum distributions (RMDs) and why they're so important to know!
  • Knowing the rules that apply to spouse and non-spouse beneficiaries who inherit an IRA is vital.  Also, pick up some tips on the various strategies a non-spouse heir can use to maximize an inheritied IRA.
