A Wise Heart in the Workplace

Daylong Retreat

with John Martin

Saturday, October 28 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm

“My practice came fully alive when I committed to bringing the practice of kindness and non-harming into my work. I realized a greater happiness and ease at work, and in-life, than I imagined possible.” —John Martin

Setting a deep intention for kindness and non-harming in the workplace supports acting in harmony with the deepest wishes of the heart. And, letting go of making our happiness dependent on outcomes opens the door for ease, creativity and the possibility to exceed expectations.

The intention for kindness, non-harming, and letting go together constitute Wise Intention, the second Path Factor. By bringing these intentions into the work place, and with the practice of present awareness, we support the deeper purification of the heart and the opening to greater happiness, peace and ease in life.

During this daylong, there will be sitting and walking periods, and opportunities to investigate challenges in bringing practice into the workplace. There will also be a chance to reflect on, and set deep intentions for, kindness and non-harming at work.

TEACHER DANA: Our teachers are supported solely by your donations for their time and teachings (they do not receive any portion of the registration fee). Suggested donation is $25 to $100 for the daylong. This amount can be offered to the teacher by cash or check (payable to SF Insight).

WHAT TO BRING: Please bring your lunch.

FOR INFORMATION: Call 415-994-5951, or visit SFInsight.org.

John Martin teaches Vipassana (Insight) and Metta Retreats. He leads a weekly sitting group in San Francisco and a monthly group in Redwood City. He, also, leads an on-going Advanced Practitioner Program group, and a Dedicated Practitioner Program group. John had a dedicated practice while being engaged in the working world, having served for 21 years as the Airport Director of San Francisco International Airport. Earlier this year, he spoke at the Wisdom 2.0 Conference on Letting Go at Work. In his teachings, he emphasizes the importance of practice for daily life. John completed the SRMC/IMS/IRC 4-year teacher training in 2016.

We offer our classes on a sliding scale registration fee basis. Please pay at the highest level of the sliding scale that you can afford to allow others with fewer resources to attend. Scholarship and volunteer/work exchange slots are available - please call 415-994-5951 prior to the daylong if the registration fee is an obstacle to your participation.
