Event description
A high-level event to discuss the future of the European dairy industry

About this Event

Arla Foods is pleased to invite you to a high-level conference on the future of the European dairy industry. Hosted by MEPs Asger Christensen and Christel Schaldemose, the event will take place at the European Parliament on 4 February 2020.

Within its Green Deal, the European Commission has committed to transform the EU into a fair and prosperous society, with a modern, resource efficient and competitive economy, where there are no net emissions of GHG and where economic growth is decoupled from resource use.

The dairy sector plays a significant role in the process. As a cooperative committed to sustainability, Arla Foods recognises the urgency to act. That is why we have commissioned the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), a sustainability think tank, as an independent knowledge partner to conduct research on how the dairy sector could be an actor of a sustainable transition in the agri-food industry towards 2030 and beyond.

Starting from the challenges faced by the sector today and the objectives needed to stay within future planetary boundaries, the report identifies a series of environmental, economic and social recommendations and outlines a vision for a more sustainable dairy industry.

Event and registration

This event will offer the opportunity to present and discuss the findings of the report by IEEP. There is no registration fee, but participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. Networking drinks will be provided at the end of the conference.

The event will be held in Room 5E2 (ASP 5E2) in the Altiero Spinelli building of the European Parliament in Brussels. The reception afterwards will be in the Jozsef Antall building (JAN 3Q, Le Grand Café Antall).

The registration for the event is facilitated by IEEP. For more information on how to register or access the event, please contact events@ieep.eu.

Registration closes on 23 January 2020.

We will confirm your registration no later than a week after the closing date. Please forward this invitation on to your colleagues who may be interested in attending. If the conference is over-subscribed it might become necessary to prioritise registrations with a view to ensure balanced geographical and professional representation. Yu will be duly informed if this is the case.

The agenda will follow soon.
