A Virtual Outing: The Nature of Ring Mountain
Event Information
About this Event
Park ranger emerita Cathy Petrick is our guide as we hike the trails of Ring Mountain Preserve in search of this botanical treasure.
Along the way, Cathy will share the story of pioneer rancho owner John Reed. Our route passes massive boulders of blue schist and eclogite that make Ring Mountain a Bay Area geologic hotspot as well as a botanical treasure. For those of us less scientifically inclined, Cathy will reveal a tree shaped like a toad and a rock carved into an Easter Island style Moai head. All this makes for a fascinating arm chair excursion!
