Workshop and Lead Presenter: Fern Pombeiro, Data Engineering Manager, Fandango (an NBCUniversal company)
Fernando (“Fern”) Pombeiro is a Manager of data engineering. His career started as an officer in the U.S Navy where he completed eighteen and six month tours in Iraq before returning stateside to work as an assistant professor of Naval Science at Penn State University. Following his military career he transitioned to primarily data engineering roles, spending four years with Amazon.com and several years working in the Los Angeles startup scene in Facebook gaming as a Data Engineer, Hadoop administrator, and Senior Data Analyst. He currently works for Fandango.com as a manager of BI Engineering in Santa Monica. Additionally, Fern is a General Assembly (GA) Data Science Instructor.

Addison McCaleb, Founder and CEO of Mediahound Addison combines his business, design, and technical skills with his deep love of entertainment to change the way people share and discover great entertainment. MediaHound’s platform, The Entertainment Graph, powers personalized discovery and recommendation experiences across all media. MediaHound's Date Night app won two Webby Awards, and their "Netflix for all streaming sources" site NextQueue won two W3 awards. A graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and native of San Antonio, Texas, Addison previously launched and operated a successful commercial and video production company. He was recently named one of Los Angeles Business Journal's Top Twenty Entrepreneurs In Their 20s.
Anna McCaleb, Director of FTI Consulting Anna has extensive experience in complex, data-intensive analyses focused in a wide variety of industries, including Financial Services, Government and Mortgage-Backed Securities. Ms. McCaleb has experience in the areas of financial database design and management and complex data modeling. She has provided litigation support regarding the availability / suitability of historical electronic records, forensic accounting, and data validation, which depended upon the recovery and analysis of current and historic operational, transactional, financial and accounting data. She is a member of the Financial and Enterprise Data Analytics group.
Rebecca Rigal, Trend Analysis + Insights+ Strategy at Bottlenose Rebecca is a dynamic consumer & market insights, foresights and culture consultant who is highly skilled at helping businesses and brands stay relevant and forward focused. Her depth of expertise includes qualitative and quantitative research methodologies; trend, data and market analysis and strategy; and content/ programming ideation, curation and cultivation. Most recently, Rebecca worked with Bottlenose, an LA-based, business intelligence company leveraging smart data discovery to help enterprises surface actionable insights from a variety of streaming big data sources. For well over a decade, Rigal has been uncovering trends and providing comprehensive consumer insights, market intelligence, strategic counsel and content ideation, creation and curation services to forward-thinking brands and Fortune 500 companies, including Pepsi Co, H&M, Nike, Adidas, Equinox, Honda, HBO and FOX. She has held leadership positions at Creative Artists Agency’s trend forecasting division (Cassandra), GOOD, and Maker City LA, and has consulted for leading trend forecasting companies, such as The Future Laboratory and Trendera. She has contributed to GOOD, C Magazine, iMedia’s Entertainment Spot, Examiner.com, and The Wall Street Journal online. Rebecca has a B.A in Journalism from The Ohio State University. Noelle Sio Saldana, Principal Data Scientist at Pivotal Labs Noelle currently heads the Data Science practice at Pivotal Labs in Santa Monica. Pivotal's goal is to change the way that the world builds software by "catching people or things in the act and affecting the outcome." She has worked with numerous enterprise and startup companies on their analytics initiatives, using predictive analytics to drive both internal processes and end user experiences across industry verticals. Previously, she worked in Analytics at eHarmony and Fox Interactive Media.
