A Truth-seeker's Guide to Big Data (webinar)
Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM (PST)
We live in a data-driven society. Enthralled by data analytics, perpetual connectedness, and unprecedented access to personal lives, boundaries of privacy and human dignity buckle, cultural norms shift, and our understanding of personality and relationships begins to change.
Data is impersonal and analytics reduce. Truth is personal and faith transcends. Christians know that a biblical understanding of truth transcends data analytics. So how do we make sense of these new technologies and cultural shifts in the light of biblical wisdom?
In this webinar we will consider how Christian theology informs our response to some of the most important technological and cultural trends of our 21st century digital society. We will pay particular attention to the effects of data-driven business on interpersonal relationships among employees, with customers, and with society at large. We will see how a biblical understanding of personhood helps discern the moral imperatives of these new technologies and business strategies.
