A Town Hall Meeting on Art and Politics
A Town Hall Meeting on Art and Politics will address the role of art vis-à-vis our current political climate. In a participatory conversation steered by several featured guests we pose the question: what next?
Many anticipate that Trump's presidency will benefit the art market through deregulation and tax cuts for the ultra wealthy. Yet the election also exposed a complacency that has left many feeling complicit in the status quo and questioning the role of art in society. How can art serve a broader public, and not merely the economic elite? Is art too self-referential, too conceptual, too formal, too individualistic to be relevant to society at large?
Featured Speakers: Ariel Adkins, Brian Boucher, Ambre Kelly and Andrew Gori, John Post Lee, Walter Robinson, Amol Sarva, Christian Viveros-Fauné, Matthew Weinstein, and others.
