Come get cozy and settle in with a good book!

The Capital BlueCross Theatre will be transformed into a coffee house complete with coffee, tea and hot chocolate bar, pastries, fruit and other goodies*. The audience will be entertained by a professional musician playing original music, local published authors and poets reading excerpts of their new work and actors bringing to life moments from the classic, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

*free and unlimite, while supplies last w/admissions ticket

Musician: Daryl Snider, Lancaster County PA. His original songs are tuneful, acoustic and authentic. Listeners have described his music as sorrowful and joyful, soul-searching and uplifting, homegrown and international, poetic and melodic.

Poets: Dustin Nispel, Adams County PA, award-wining performance and published poet. Reading from his latest work, The Road Home. It serves as a reminder of our own mortality. It reminds us to hold onto what is important in this world and to cherish that which many take for granted every day.

Maria James Thiaw, Cumberland PA, award-winning performance and published poet. Reading from the Bridging the Gap project which is inspired by the many bridges we must cross to heal old wounds both public and personal.

Actors: Ashley Mahdavi, Nicholaas Rainville and Michael Sheffield: students and performers with HIT (Harrisburg Improv Theatre). Previous theatrical work includes performances at The Capital BlueCross Theatre and the PA Renassiance Faire.

Authors: Steve Hower, Perry County PA, retired wildlife conservation officer and a federal deputy enforcement officer with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Reading from his [often humorous and adventurous] life of service, To Conserve and Protect.

Nicole Hamilton, Dauphin County PA, a junior at Southern New Hampshire University pursuing a bachelor degree in psychology and member of The National Society of Leadership And Success. Reading from her novella based on a true story, JJ GIRL UNDONE

Sammi Leigh Melville, Dauphin County PA, program director for Vidjam, a non-profit organization which works to encourage and foster filmmaking in the Central PA area. Reading from her sci-fi novel, The Fields.

Patricia Robinson, Dauphin County PA, owner and coach at Evolve Training and Development. Reading and excerpt from Pyramid to Your Potential - Self Help Inspirational. In times such as these, it becomes so easy to compromise our principles and beliefs in order to get ahead and stay ahead.

...and two special high school authors from Steel-Hi High School

Published POPS Authors: Kennedy King,15-years-old 9th grader living in Steelton, PA. She finds joy in writing, reading, drawing, and photography. She’s recently been interested in makeup and has gotten pretty good at it. She also loves music. Kennedy has been a member of the POPS club for 3 years and has shared her artwork and writing with the community all three years. Kennedys work has been published in 2 volumes of POPS anthologies.

Danaeshia Cuff she goes to Steelton Highspire high school. She enjoys reading and writing poetry. She draws occasionally when she feels inspired. She is active in lots of different clubs and activities. Danaeshia has been a member of the POPS club for 3 years and is active in the group. She has artwork and writing published in 2 of the Anthologies.

About POPS the Club: provides a space for high school students struggling with the Pain of the Prison System. We offer opportunities for young people often struggling with the shame and stigma of loving someone in prison to know they are not alone, to create a community, to share their stories with each other, and to listen to the stories of others. We also offer opportunities for these students' stories to reach the world through our publishing program.
