Event description

Description

Join founder Ned Lawton of Ethic Ciders in Sonoma County for a talk about the beloved apple and its perilous journey from orchard to glass. Ned will discuss: • Growing proper cider fruit • crazy fermentations • and blending for taste.

Ned will pour selections from Ethic Ciders, and walk us through their offerings. Light food pairings will be served from Driver’s kitchen. Don’t miss this chance to learn about Ethic’s biodiverse orcharding techniques, and get a taste for cider making at its finest!

Admission is free with your RSVP, but space is limited. Guests must be 21 and older.

Ned started Ethic Ciders in Sebastopol in 2015. He and his wife Michelle purchased an old apple orchard with trees that, though in bad repair, produced some of the most flavorful, dry farmed apples he’d tasted. The Lawton’s invested in the orchard, using regenerative farming techniques, and expanding to a certified organic facility by 2017. The USDA awarded Ethic funding for their experimental permaculture practices and selected the orchard as a test site for carbon farming practices. In 2018, Ethic Ciders won the prestigious Good Food Awards for their Golden Rule blend.
