Event description

Description

Looking for a place to enjoy Jewish life? Come see what we're about!

Join Chochmat Halev staff and teachers, families, community members and kids and sample a taste of our loving, creative, intergenerational, earth-centered, art-filled, culturally rich and wildly fun programming for children and their Jewish, multi-faith and multi-heritage families. Dip into a sumptuous buffet that will nourish the storyteller, jokester, scholar, ritual leader, human rights advocate, linguist, and stilt walker within you! Get ready for a feast that will satisfy your hunger for meaningful Jewish life.

Brought to you by Urban Shtetl, which honors Sephardi, Mizrahi, Ashkenazi, Asian, and African-American Jewish cultural and spiritual traditions. We embrace queer, theologically questioning, embodied and engaged approaches to Jewish life. Bring your friends. A Taste of Chochmat can be your way into delicious Jewish living.

Bring a buddy! This is a great opportunity to introduce your friends to Chochmat Halev.

Events include:

  • A Mouse in the House? Talmud tasting with Magid Jhos
  • Sukkah songs with Julie Batz
  • Gigantic Ziz* bird puppet making
  • Plant Tsofeem’s fall herb garden
  • Walk on stilts
  • Make Sefardic ‘Tishpishti’ (Rosh Hashanah honey cake)
  • Shofar blowing practice
  • Jewish, Queer, and Lovin’ it with Ariel Vegosen
  • Snack on Boichik Bagels

This is a free event, but we want to make sure we have enough food (or my grandmother, may her memory be a blessing, will roll over in her grave!) So be a mensch and RSVP.
