About this event

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Inspired by Lydia Rueger's son's diagnosis of ADHD, Victor is a regular-looking little car with an extraordinary engine inside that doesn’t sound like any of the other cars in the class. His engine gets him in trouble, but also is the driving force behind many of his creative abilities.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Lydia grew up in a rural community in southern Indiana, where she spent a lot of time running through the forest, walking the creeks and creating characters and stories in her head. As an adult, those things really haven't changed, except now she lives in Colorado. Currently, she is a freelance writer and copy editor for Colorado Parent magazine; a wife, mom of two children and a school/church/community volunteer. Lydia's first picture book, Victor and the Vroom, based on my son’s ADHD diagnosis, was released in December 2019 through Elk Lake Publishing. She has many other stories in various stages, thanks to daily inspiration from the mouths of her kids. Previously, Lydia worked as a craft magazine editor and book editor, and has written for a number of magazines, websites an blogs. She holds degrees in Journalism and English from Indiana University, and a member of the Rocky Mountain chapter of the Society of Children's Books Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI).

New for 2022: Lydia is pursuing full-time work in a communications, writing or editing position.
