Saturday 17th September - Freedom of the Heart Unbound with Nathan Glyde

The Buddha taught a path "good in the beginning, in the middle, and in the end". This statement emphasises how unbound well-being is not left only for completion, and reminds us to find release in every step of the great way.

What might a continuously liberating path look like for us? Could these shoulders relax a little bit more right now; may this heart open in kindness to one more being in this moment; can this mind gather and sustain on just one 'thing' for a while? And from this new now, what else can soften, expand, release, unbind…?

Let's dedicate this day of practice to the art of letting go, letting be, and letting in: opening our hearts and minds to what is here and now, and releasing onwards into something thoroughly unbound.

Nathan Glyde: has been practicing and studying meditation since 1997, and sharing teachings on retreats since 2007. In 2004 he co-founded SanghaSeva whose retreats emphasise wisdom and compassion in ecological and humanitarian service. Nathan’s full teaching schedule is available at DependentOrigination.org

Saturday 19th November - Aligning with a liberating flow of life with Gavin Milne

Vivid water analogies appear in various places in the Buddha’s teachings, as well as those of latter day meditation masters, pointing towards the fluid nature of experience and Dharma practice as a whole.

One analogy is the stream of 'mind', and how it can contain both wholesome and unwholesome currents that can be developed or redirected through practice. On this silent day retreat, we will get to know and feel into these currents within, whilst reflecting on how they are strengthened or abandoned in relationship to the ocean of conditions we find ourselves in in any moment. In this way, we can align ourselves with a liberating flow of life that involves all activities of body, speech and mind, in full participation with the world around.

The day is suitable for all levels of experience, and will include meditation instructions on kind embodied awareness, as well as teaching reflections, and periods of walking meditation.

We will touch on topics such as resistance, avoidance, compassion and engagement, in the context of our world and its troubles at this time.

Gavin Milne: has been practicing the Dharma since 2004 and teaching since 2015. He is especially interested in the role and relevance of these teachings towards the individual, relational and societal transformations being called for in this era. And as such embracing and exploring practice in all areas of our life.
