Event description

Description

Come out to A Sesat At The Table’s second event to get tools on how to navigate life as a minority woman and to mend the African American sisterhood. Enjoy hors d’oeuvre, drinks, and networking. You will also here from a dynamic speaker named Carolyn Mosby.

Could you imagine standing at a microphone, in front of a room full of people, introducing yourself as "unflappable?" Would they have any idea what the word meant, let alone why you would label yourself that way? At that moment, would they even care to know why you would assign yourself an identity based on one word? Our guest speaker, Carolyn E. Mosby was once described as "unflappable" by her boss, during a newspaper interview; however, while the word "unflappable" described her exterior; internally, it was a different story. Over the years she'd been able to always put the "public face" on for any situation, but, after many years, she now risked ending up like a loser in a high stakes card game. People at work were beginning to call her bluff, evidence that her best poker face was starting to fade. Carolyn had to fold her hand and see what she had to do to be on top again. Many of us can identify with this, right? Carolyn will share her journey, share useful tools and discuss how we, as women often feel obligated to appear “unflappable,” even when our foundations; like the brick, mortar, and steel used to create the tallest, strongest structures, risk collapse; releasing our vulnerability.

Carolyn is President/CEO of the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council. She is also an author and public speaker with more than 28 years’ experience in the entertainment industry, corporate America, government, and non-profit arenas. As a consultant Mosby represented many public figures, politicians, athletes, actors and entertainers, corporations and not-for-profit organizations, advising them on public relations, crisis communications, marketing, governmental and community affairs. In her role as publicist for one of the nation's largest African American cultural events, she's coordinated publicity for numerous celebrity guests. Read her full bio at www.carolynmosby.com
