A Seat At The Table

Oregon Food Bank Partner Agency Conference
September 14, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Elliot Center, Portland Oregon

The Partner Agency Conference is an opportunity to gain new skills and engage in deep conversation around our shared work. Join us for a day of inspiration, learning, celebration and networking.

This year we are inviting you to grab “A Seat At The Table”. Spend the day exploring ways to engage clients, volunteers, donors, and members of all communities with workshops, knowledge sharing and presentations to ensure the table is inclusive and all are welcome!

Keynote Speakers:

Susannah Morgan, Oregon Food Bank

CEO

Susannah Morgan has been the Chief Executive Officer since November 2012. Prior to joining Oregon Food Bank, Susannah led the fight against hunger in Alaska for more than a decade as executive director of Food Bank of Alaska.

Under Susannah’s leadership, Oregon Food Bank has implemented a bold strategic plan that addresses both the need for nutritious food today and for long term solutions to hunger. Early successes include a focus on the distribution of fresh produce, a growing connection between hunger and health, the expansion of nutrition education throughout Oregon, and growing capacity to organize communities to advocate for systemic change. Susannah is also an active leader in the national network of food banks, Feeding America, and currently serves on the National Council.

Susannah received her bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language from Carleton College and her M.B.A. in Public and Nonprofit Management from Boston University. Susannah, her wife Dr. Jocelyn Krebs and their two small sons live in NE Portland.

Rut Martinez-Alicea, Oregon Food Bank

Director of Equity, People & Culture, Administration

Rut Martínez-Alicea joined OFB as our Director of Equity, People & Culture on July, 2018. For over 20 years, she has worked to dismantle systems of oppression with a focus on the intersection of racism and sexism. For many years her work focused on the intervention and prevention of domestic and sexual violence. In different roles, Rut implemented programs and promoted policies and practices for more equitable services to marginalized communities and individuals. She started a number of programs focused on increasing access to culturally appropriate services, among them, the first fully bilingual (English-Spanish) 24hrs Crisis Line in the state of Oregon: Línea UNICA; and the first program dedicated to the primary prevention of rape at a community college in the U.S. Before joining us, in 2014 she designed and opened Portland Community College’s Southeast Multicultural Center. Through her journey, Rut remains focused on dismantling systems of oppression that create environments where individuals and communities are at greater risk of violence, marginalization, and are denied access to basic resources such as health, housing, and food.
