Event description
Shakespeare in Detroit will continue its inebriated reading series with Julius Caesar at the historical health club, The Schvitz.

About this Event

Join SiD at Detroit’s original urban health club and the only historic bath house left in the city, The Schvitz, for an inebriated reading of Julius Caesar. A storied landmark and cultural institution for nearly 100 years, this old-world oasis still offers the very best in ancient heat therapies and holistic healing. Come unwind, back in time.

Your ticket comes with two complimentary Roman Holiday cocktails made with mint leaves, simple syrup, Averna Amaro Siciliano, fresh lemon juice and a lemon wedge.

You'll also be automatically entered into a drawing to win service (steam room) at the conclusion of the event (5 names will be drawn, and you must take advantage of the steam room on the same day as the event). If your name isn't drawn, you can certainly pay for the steam room ($25 per person) or any additional available services via The Schvitz, directly. We'll also be giving away two Shakespeare in Detroit embroidered robes. But we encourage all of the audience members to bring your own robe w/a bathing suit (you are in Rome, afterall) or wear your favorite toga. Or, wear whatever makes you most comfortable.

All proceeds benefit Shakespeare in Detroit's work in schools during the 2019-20 academic year.

Street parking (guarded) available along with two lots available.

NOTE: Patrons are not required to steam and the reading will take place in the historical dining room of The Schvitz.
