Event Description: There was a point in each of their lives when Emily Wierenga and Dena Cabrera never believed they could have healthy eating habits or feel beautiful, strong and worthy. Today, they are both healthy and happy, moms to beautiful children and actively engaged in guiding others through the eating disorder recovery process as well. In this uniquely supportive event, Dr. Cabrera and Emily offer you practical tips and tools to develop a confident identity within yourself AND strengthen your most treasured relationships at the same time.

Presenter Bios: 

Dr. Dena Cabrera is a licensed psychologist and serves as the clinical director of adolescent services at Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders, where she manages the day to day activities of our residents and staff.  She is involved in  program development, staff training, and supervision throughout the Rosewood system.  Prior to joining Rosewood, Dr. Cabrera worked at Remuda Ranch and served in various roles including Staff Psychologist and Director of Educational Outreach.  She presents to national and international audiences.  Dr. Cabrera has written numerous articles, publications and has appeared in media  interviews. She is the co-author of Mom in the Mirror: Body Image, Beauty and Life After Pregnancy (Rowman & Littlefield). Visit her at: www.rosewoodranch.com

 

Emily Wierenga is a wife, mother and foster mother of four boys, commissioned artist, award-winning journalist, columnist, and author of Chasing Silhouettes: How to Help a Loved One Battling an Eating Disorder (Ampelon, 2012) and the co-author of Mom in the Mirror: Body Image, Beauty and Life After Pregnancy (Rowman & Littlefield). She is also a monthly contributor to A Deeper Story, She Loves, and Prodigal Magazine, as well as an occasional contributor to TheHighCalling.org.
