About this Event

The Princeton Progressives (PPro) launch the Princeton area chapter of PPro with an evening of intimate conversation with Dr. Sadaf Jaffer, the Mayor of Montgomery Township, as she shares what it is like to be the first Muslim woman to serve as Mayor (in NJ and in the United States), and how it intersects with her Islamic Feminist research. What is it like to become one’s own “research topic”? How did a postdoc from Princeton University become politically involved? How is Islamophobia manifesting in Central New Jersey and what can be done about it? How does Dr. Jaffer’s academic background uniquely suit her political office at this time in American politics? Dr. Jaffer will also take questions from the audience.

This event will include wine and cheese, light appetizers, and nonalcoholic beverages.

PPro is a political organization that supports politically progressive work on campus, in the Princeton University alumni community, and beyond. We build on the strengths of the greater Princeton University community to pursue the ideals of social justice, equality, and well being in our society. PPro is not formally affiliated with Princeton University.
