Urban Agriculture requires a level of creativity. With so little space in the city our gardeners need to look for every free corner of land to plant our seeds. A Place Called Home has three community gardens; the first is on site, the second is at our local police station Newton Station, the final garden is at St. Patrick's Church. We have partnered with these organization and agreed to use their land for our crops, in return the gardens are open to community members to come plant and harvest with us, our members are able to take trips to each garden to learn where their fruits and veggies come from. Part of that partnership is that we upkeep these gardens. Volunteers provide an invaluable service by helping us do the more time intensive tasks so that our youth can focus on their nutrition and gardening classes.
