A Photographic Journey to Colonsay; a Hebridean Island Adventure!
Event Information
About this event
5th - 9th September 2022
This incredible southern Hebridean Island lies north of Islay and south of Mull. It's only 15 square miles and you can see the coast from everywhere. The bays are beautiful - clear water and sandy beaches, home to many seals. The views to the Atlantic or back towards the other isles are staggering. Colonsay is also famous for its seabirds - black-legged kittiwakes, cormorants, guillemots, corncrakes and golden eagles (oh, and a rather lovely herd of wild goats!).
As well as the fabulous photographic opportunities, there will be guided walks at different levels to suit everyone. We'll have a couple of interest talks; we'll make sure that your photographic abilities are up-to-snuff, and we will examine the images taken each evening in our review sessions. It's such a good way to improve your photographic skills.
We have the farmstead to ourselves while we are there - it's a very comfortable former Victorian Farm with individual bedrooms and 3 good bathrooms. All meals will be provided and will include some really good local food. There's a bookshop on the island, and a small gallery, as well as it's own Gin distillery and Brewery!
Getting there is pretty straightforward too - there is a daily ferry (a joy in itself) from Oban to Colonsay. It takes just over 2 hours, and costs under £15 for a return ticket (See CalMac Ferries) . Oban is a 2.5 hour drive, or 3 hour train ride, from Glasgow.
Colonsay is one of those places you have to visit once in your lifetime, so why not come and see it with us! The video below will show you some of the beauty to expect.
