A Photographer’s Quest – The Milky Way and the Oglala Grasslands

Join us for a unique look at a photographer’s quest to photograph the Milky Way. Photographer Donovan Evans will be presenting a lecture concerning a series of images he created in the grasslands of Nebraska with a back drop of stars.

Donovan, a.k.a. Foto Dono, is a multi-award-winning photographer. Currently he is the Director of Photo Education Department at Johnson PhotoImaging. He moderates, teaches and creates classes for the store. His personal style is unique and seeks to push the boundaries of what can be done with his camera. His work has been collected over the years and been showcased extensively here on the Gulf Coast. With a background of training in fine arts, he uses photography to create surreal landscapes and portraits. His recent obsession is photographing the Milky Way.

He’ll discuss his work behind the scenes, planning, the execution plus amusing anecdotes of his travels. Known for his “dad” jokes and illustrative dialog it is sure to be an entertaining and informative lecture.

The lecture is expected to run about 90 minutes with a Q & A at the end. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be available.
