Description
Philip Kahn is Co-Leader of Citizens Climate Lobby New York City Chapter (citizensclimatelobby.org), a volunteer group dedicated to putting a price on carbon pollution.
Mr. Kahn will discuss the difficult politics of climate policy, the latest scientific findings, and Citizens Climate Lobby's effort to bring ordinary citizens directly to Congress to help build political will for smart, substantive carbon pricing that will build consensus, reduce emissions, transition the United States to clean energy, and vastly expand opportunity for the working and middle class.
Mr. Kahn has been a New York City resident for 31 years, during which time he led his family's textile manufacturing firm. Prior to his moving to New York, he was graduate student at the University of Washington where he completed a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science. Since the sale of the business, he has worked in renewable energy and educated himself about climate change. He completed Al Gore's presenter training at the Climate Reality Project's Chicago meeting.
The event will be held at the Tyler Rollins Art Galllery which is currently hosting one of Indonesia's most iconic artist and climate change activists, Arahmaiani Feisal. One of her main endeavors in recent years has been an ongoing ecology project in the Tibetan plateau region, working with monks and villagers in remote areas.
