A Night With Food & Wine

and the Entrepreneurs Behind Them

Ever dreamed of being a partner in a restaurant, starting a food truck, or building the next Seamless? Join a standout panel of entrepreneurs, investors & innovators in the food and beverage industry to find out exactly how.

Come hungry: there will be a feast of wine, chips, chocolate & more from the featured panelists!

This event is presented in partnership with the upcoming book Cooking Up a Business packed with real-world, actionable advice from inspiring food entrepreneurs. The book features stories of the genius ideas, pitfalls, and ultimately successes from the people behind famed brands like popchips, smashburger, Justin’s, Vosges Haut Chocolat & more!

Josh Hix, Co-Founder of Plated

Plated is redefining weeknight dinner. Through weekly chef-designed menus, the company is helping America to eat and live better.

Josh Hix co-founded the company with Nick Taranto after they graduated from Harvard Business School. When they both moved back to NYC, they noticed their busy schedules directly influenced their diets. Plated's "dinner kit" is their solution. After you select a chef-designed recipe (the team releases a new featured menu every week), you receive locally sourced ingredients in a biodegradable box, which is designed to keep the contents fresh in your fridge for five days. All you need is about 30 minutes to make the meal!

Cameron Hughes, Founder and CEO of Cameron Hughes Wine

Cameron Hughes is an American négociant that makes, imports, and distributes ultra-premium wine under five wine labels: The Lot Series, Hughes Wellman, Cameron Hughes California, Greenlip and Zin Your Face. The wines are nationally distributed and carried in chains, grocery, broad market (fine wine and liquor shops), on premise (restaurants and hotels) and online.

The company was founded by Cameron Hughes and Jessica Kogan in 2001 for one simple reason – to bring truly exceptional wine to the market at real world prices. They do this by partnering with the finest growers and wineries in the world and delivering consistently high quality wines and the highest degree of service to our customers. Published critical acclaim of the company comes from the Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, Wine & Spirits, Wall Street Journal, Food & Wine, New York Times, Forbes Magazine, Cellar Tracker and more. In 2012, Cameron Hughes was nominated for “Innovator of the Year” by the Wine Enthusiast.

Maddy and her boyfriend Alex started the company while they were still in college at the University of Denver. They have grown the company dramatically: Love Grown products are carried in 5,000+ grocery stores nationwide. At Love Grown, Maddy focuses on sales, marketing, branding, new product innovation, public relations, social media, and further developing the company’s passion for kids’ health.

Jomaree Pinkard, Founder of Hella Bitter

Raised in NYC to loving parents who infused the importance of education and teamwork, a keen moral compass and an entrepreneurial stripe a mile wide.

Jomaree's career is a journey that has taken him from helping develop and deploy the Salvation Army's 9/11 Disaster Relief Program to providing strategic consulting services for the NFL. With a BS and MBA from the UVA and The Wharton School at UPenn respectively, by day, he runs his own consultancy, Pink Inc., that helps brands explore, learn and grow. Clients include the aforementioned NFL as well as Moet & Chandon to name a couple. By nights, Jomaree co-owns and operators craft cocktail bitters company, Hella Bitter. In 2 years, Hella Bitter grew from a hobby into a nationally distributed food manufacturer. Jomaree explains his experience growing the business as "While my business acumen serves Hella Bitter from a marketing and financial operations standpoint, nothing could have prepared me for the life of a food entrepreneur! Hella Bitter is an end-to-end experience in the creation of a hip beverage brand."
